Default Won’t run

Hi all, I am sure this has been answered many times before.
But I have just acquired a 1983 G1 (was going to make it electric)
It is tantalising close to running, when left for several hours it will start but only run for about a minute. Then won’t fire. It has spark, I have changed the fuel
I have read the threads, should I be changing the carb?
Thanks

You have a 2 stroke engine that fires but wont keep running.
You do not lose spark.
Is that correct?

Does it fire again if you put some gas in the cylinder?
The crank seals may have failed.

120 psi compression unless the cylinder and intake are stamped with J17 then 80-90 psi. crank seals are good start as well
