1995 drive clutch does not disengage
My 95 4 stroke is giving me trouble with its clutch. The drive clutch will not completely disengage. So now as soon as you hit the gas pedal its moving which isn't bad but makes it difficult to change directions. It seems fine at speed. Is it possible to do anything with it on the cart? It is lifted.

You mean your steering wheel is locked? Why can't you change direction?

Re: 1995 drive clutch does not disengage
Must be open mic nite at Bgw! No I meant that you can't shift between forward an reverse. The engine clutch is not opening all the way. So the starter will actually move the cart until it starts. This makes tension on the rear gears making it difficult to switch directions.

Sounds like maybe a broken spring in the drive clutch

BigBlockMan is apparently right. Just remove the clutch cover to find out if the spring is broken.

I agree, sounds like the spring broke, when the engine is off and stopped can you slide the clutch out farther? take the belt off, the clutch should have spring pressure if you try to push in on it, you will probably find it moves in and out 1 or 2 inches with no resistance

Re: 1995 drive clutch does not disengage
How does the cover come off. Does the clutch have to be off, are there any springs gonna be flying off when I open it up. I have never taken a clutch like this apart. Thanks for any help!!!!
