48v Club Car motor in my 36v G8E
It’s there and it’s running. I bought it this way but didn’t know until yesterday. The part number is 101785702 and from a search I found this is a torque motor requiring minimum 300 amp controller. I only have a 36v pack and what appears to be a factory controller. I’m stumped on how I’m turning 22x11x10’s off pavement and my GPS says I’m getting 13-14 mph around the neighborhood. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

A 48v series motor will work just fine at 36v! It will just be significantly slower than intended.

So for two more batteries, a solenoid and a controller I have a 48V cart?

What controller would work with my 0-1k throttle on a 48v motor? Also, I read about needing different resistor and diodes? I’m a rookie looking for all inclusive info so I can price this out.

48v Club Car motor in my 36v G8E
Go to Scotty’s website at cartsunlimited.net and get an Alltrax SR controller with the pre charger resistor, HD solenoid, and diode. I’d go with the SR48400 or 48500 depending on your needs. The throttle can easily be changed to 0-1K with a USB cable.
The best part is they work with 36 and 48v so you can upgrade over time. I redid a G8 last year with an Alltrax setup. It was a nice cart. Probably not the easiest Alltrax install out there but not too hard to figure out. There was an error in the diagram for the throttle wire colors.  |
