Re: 89 Marathon Rear Springs and Shock questions..
It's a 4" lift. I had to cut off the top shock stud and relocate it about 3/4" lower as you can see in the pic. Not sure of the spring rate, but it should just about double the payload because I now have the 2 original ezgo rear springs and 2 original yamaha rear coilover shocks.

Re: 89 Marathon Rear Springs and Shock questions..
Looking at Southwest Speed's website, I can't find any springs that are less than $40/piece. Do you have a link to the ones you got?

Re: 89 Marathon Rear Springs and Shock questions..
My appologies they where $29.99 each. They are on e-bay. The ones I got are called Black Magic Coilovers.

Re: 89 Marathon Rear Springs and Shock questions..
Thanks for the help and suggestions...
With the 4" economy lift kit, I used the Monroe 32207 shocks on the rear. With these springs: http://pitstopusa.com/c-134762-sprin...x-14-tall.html For the front shocks I used Monroe 31069 without the shock extenders from the lift kit.. After dropping the axle 4" I had to make my own shock mounting brackets. Worked out pretty well. |

Re: 89 Marathon Rear Springs and Shock questions..
I got the 275lb springs. I can put all my weight (185lbs) on the tailgate of the dump box and it doesn't sag at all. It rides nice. Took the wife for a ride and no complaints from her. I went with the slightly lower rate springs to keep the ride from becoming too stiff. I think I read somewhere the stock springs were around 200lb. If I ever put a rear seat on it and a couple of extra people in the seat and it sags too much I can always put spring rubbers in.

Re: 89 Marathon Rear Springs and Shock questions..
Hey Racin' Try either some shims or have the first 4" of the front springs bent up-wards a little by a spring shop(or PM me and I can explain how to do it). When you add a block lift it causes the axle to tilt rearward, causing negative-caster.Hope this helps.
