Default Add USB charger to Precedent

Is there a way to add a USB charger to a precedent with a 6 x 8V configuration without having a 48 to 12v reducer?

Thanks

There are some USB ports the are listed as 12V to 24V. With this type you could hook up to two 8Volt batteries to give you 16 volts.

You'll want to do the reducer for the simple fact that the charger will then draw equally across all batteries in the pack, rather than wear 2 batteries faster than the others, ultimately pulling the entire pack down. I made this mistake on my old 4X12v setup, running a light bar and a USB charger off a single battery. It didn't take long before I had one battery that brought the rest of the pack down and I needed new batteries.

Like ryan said, reducer is the way to go if you want to do it the “correct” way. Also you can add a fuse block for more more accessories too. The reducer I used also has a key switch wire so everything only get powered while the key is on.

Just curious, instead of wiring the reducer to the key switch, can you just add an inline switch on the negative to the battery so the reducer does not draw power when not in use?

Thanks

I though the Precedent came from the factory with a reducer.

Here's one way. It plugs in to your charge port on your cart.
