Katy, tx rust bucket
Ok, so my son got a free cart. I cleaned connections and bought new batteries and viola it's running. Now, I notice a pile of rust metal every time I pull it out of the garage. I had to investigate so I took off the front body panel and there is a lot of cancer there. It actually runs perfectly fine. I am planning on grinding away and cutting the rust out and making friends with a beer loving welder.. The main frame rails front to back look ok, the battery tray is toast, just the out fringes seem to be rusted bad. Any other suggestions or things I should look for? |

This what I would suggest you do to your cart.....that is if you plan on having it for any length of time and having it last. once you get it to this stage.....THEN you can really fix any rot you have.

Fair enough, keep taking it apart. Got it.

A day, wow. It's hotter than hades around here, don't think I could work on it for a day in this heat ( waiting for shade ). Every single bolt has been rusted and hard to remove. I'll get there, don't judge me!! Haha

Talk to ScottyB on here, see if he still has the Ezgo frames he was selling. I think he said $100 plus shipping. It may be a cheaper/easier option than replacing a bunch of metal.

Ok, after some gentle suggestions and nudging by Sir Nuke... It's worse than I thought.

And he replied (wonderful fellow) he does have one available. Now the hard part, how much to ship and my boy has to raise the money himself. |

it doesn't look too bad, after all you have a welder buddy. the only thing I would look at real close is the front rail that goes side to side that the front springs bolt to. We can see that you need to replace the front uprights....as they are pretty much already gone. |
