Default Re: 09 RXV Speed Upgrade Question

Well getting to a dealer is a problem for me which is why I was hoping to buy the handheld, change the speed settings. At least this way I could decide if I wanted to keep it or sell it. But I guess what I am hearing is that only a dealer can help me and there is no way to do it via the handheld. Is that right?

Country town in Australia, the nearest dealer is 200 miles away. This is why I am looking to buy the handheld, but only if it will be able to unlock the 19.5 mph speed setting. Does that help?

Still given your situation, I would strongly consider the Curtis 350 amp controller upgrade that is already unlocked for 19.5 mph. Then it is only a matter of switching out a few parts. Your only looking at $500 more and it buys you a lot, plus you can then probably get close to the $500 back by selling your used Danaher controller.

So is that part number 750893PKG or do I purchase the parts individually?

As an owner of an RXV with a Danaher controller, personally I would invest in the $1,500 or so higher output 350 amp Curtis upgrade controller before spending $1,000 on the expensive Danaher handheld (the standard Danaher and Curtis controller is a 200 (225?) amp model).
Even with buying the new Curtis upgrade, owning a handheld is invaluable for programming and/or troubleshooting issues.

I am not sure about the product number, hopefully one of the techs that do this upgrade regularly will reply. It is also my understanding that the Curtis handheld for troubleshooting costs about half the price of the Danaher handheld.

that does look like the danaher to curtis retrofit kit. i looked around some, and could not see anything that said "freedom" or "freedom mode" (unlocks the speed settings above 14-19mph) on any of them. the curtis upgrades i have done also did not have freedom mode enabled. we had to use our unlock key to enable it, just like any other fleet or non-freedom rxv would need.

Thanks cgtech. So I am not sure what my options are now. Converting to a Curtis controller would be ok if I could purchase one that already had freedom mode set but if that is not the case I guess I am going to need to look for a Danaher handheld that lets me set freedom mode. I found this one http://www.golfcaruk.com/diagnostictool_rxv.html that might work.
