Default 2009 rxv break will not disengage

While driving on a full charge and everything running fine, the cart all of a sudden starts to slow down. Then there is a smell like the brake is engaged. I stop the cart to check and the smell is a brake smell. I flip the tow/run switch and the brake disengages. Turn back to run a few times and it fixes itself. Any ideas??

That sounds like an intermittent connection in the motor brake circuit, between the #1/#2/#3/#4 connectors and the brake switch, the brake switch itself, or the motor brake negative from the controller had dropped out for some reason.

This happened after it locked up and wouldn't move one morning. I went from neutral on the key a few times trying to get it to move and it all of a sudden started working.

Now it doesn't slow down, it just has a burning clutch or brake smell.

Sounds fishy to me, since the motor brake has nothing to do with slowing the cart down under normal operation. So, the motor brake doesn't work correctly, and the cart doesn't slow down? That's 2 totally different issues.

It sounds like the motor brake is toast. Slipping while locked will glaze over the friction surfaces and pretty much eliminate the motor brake from stopping you or slowing you down.

Again--- motor brake does not "slow cart down"

Motor brake is "locked up" or off--- no in between

Brake is probably toast.

In his case it apparently was on and dragging, slowing him down until it was rendered useless.
