2009 RXV ..I noticed a brake switch which is normally closed and opens when the brake is fully depressed...at first I thought it was for a brake light..but as it's normally closed this did not make sense...what is it for ...

That switch is in the motor brake circuit. The motor brake is powered while you are driving, and dropping the power locks it up, as it is used for a parking brake. If you push the pedal hard enough, the switch disconnects the power to that motor brake and it locks up, sorta like a panic brake. More often than not, that results in the brake disc destroying itself instead of stopping the cart. It's not a good idea to either press the brake pedal that far, or turning off the keyswitch, while moving. Those motor brakes are not cheap to replace.

A follow up ...if for some reason that switch failed and went to open circuit..then the cart would be immobilised...but I would imagine the tow switch would bypass this circuit and release the brake..thanks
