When it's off use some WD40 for removing the leftover glue.

Can I use Acetone to get glue off or will it ruin body gloss?

I would not use that.
WD should do it with a little effort.
Been using it for years to get bugs off bumpers and glue from just about anything.

Remember it is a Precedent and the body material is different from the DS.

According to David himself, Acetone is better on the Surlyn Material:

Don't under estimate the strength of Goo Gone and use caution when using it. I used some Goo Gone to removed the sticker residue from my licence plate renewal sticker ... It took off the sticker residue very quickly ... and then the licence plate paint came off right to the galzanized base metal.

I would start with a product with much less strength ... like WD-40. A LITTLE heat from a blow dryer will assist the WD-40 in working if needed (worked well for me in removing big decals from the aluminum siding of my horse trailer)
