His is the MCI engine. No throttle rod running across the timing cover. Throttle cable comes up from bottom to connect to carburetor . Clips in a square or rectangle hole, I can't remember which right off but this is a much better design. Got plastic tangs on it that you have to release to get cable off.

I watched and listened to the video and it sounded like engine is trying to run. Have you replaced the spark plugs ? They may have got gas fouled when all this happened.

Check real close where that linkage connects to throttle of carburetor and make sure this thing is opening all the way up. You can do that with the key off and push pedal to floor. Look in the throat of carb and you will see right away if it is opening up.

Remove the spark plugs and check the firing also. Use a spark tester if you can find one. Should be pretty simple to find this if the battery problem caused the problem. Just some tips. Show us a video or picture of it firing if you can and maybe a picture of the spark plugs..

I must have something different since all 3 of my 2005 EZGO's are industrial carts, most likely using left over parts from earlier years to get rid of left over parts. Mine are 875's.

I do understand about yours being an industrial cart but he said his was a 2005 TXT and those are like in the picture I showed. I got a 2003 TXT and its also like the one I showed.
You are probably correct in saying its what they had left over :)

I will try replacing the plugs tomorrow and snapping some photos of the old one. As checking out the the throttle linkage on the carb, the whole top of the carb is covered but a steel plate which I believe is their to keep people from messing with the carb so it hard to get a good look at what’s going at the carb. I actually wanted to remove that plate last year when I was having carb problems and couldn’t get the cart to run right with the replacement carb. I ended up taking it to the shop. They couldn’t get it to run with the replacement carb either and ended up replacing the carb with a used one from one of their spare parts carts.

In the video it seems to me it fired right up and ran out of fuel. Check and make sure it's pumping fuel first. Then check the linkage, then the carb.

Remove your air cleaner cover and look in carburetor . The metal plate you refer to can be removed pretty easy but take a picture of how it goes back and what bolt goes where if you are unsure when putting it back. That plate is a baffle plate Takes a 10 mm socket to get em off. Don't take 5 minutes and the manual will show you if can't make out the picture you take. Some of these came with the round air filters but same thing to see if its opening.
At the rear axle there will also be a plate riveted on right above the governor spring. That one was installed to keep people from trying to speed them up. Hope this helps

Sorry for the delay. Here’s the photo of the spark plugs as promised:

One looks good and the other a tad rich to me but I am no expert.

And this is the plate that is blocking the carb.

If I remove it, can I just drill out the two rivets?

I think I am understanding what you guys were saying now. The started motor was moving the carb and the engine was not actually running, right?

I removed the carb and checked the throttle cable at the rear and it was very loose. I am going to clean the carb and make sure the jets are clear, tighten up the throttle cable and install the new spark plugs and see if the the engine will run after that.

Also drilled out the rivets and now have access to the carb!
