Default Buzz/beeping while driving

About one out of every five times I drive my 2009 ezgo rxv it makes a sound similar to the sound it makes when I'm in reverse, except in one second intervals (buzz - buzz - buzz...) It doesn't stop until I turn the key to off and then back on.

Anyone know what would be causing this?

My problem has started to get a little worse. When i park my cart facing downhill, it wont go when i return. I just hear this beep. (I think this is a rolling cart alert?). My cart wont go forward or reverse. Ive park in this same spot several times with no problem, but it seems to happen every time now. I can put the cart in tow and neutral, and roll it so it perpendicular to the hill, and then everything is fine.

Does this sound like a controller issue? Or a sensor? Im not really sure where to start looking.

Based on everything else im seeing, I guess im leaning towards replacing the solenoid.

Can someone point to a good replacement for an 09 rxv (not the oem one)?

Thanks

Might check to make sure one of the buzzer wires hasn't gotten onto the lugs of the F/R switch? The lugs might have gotten hot and melted just enough of the buzzer wire to cause you a problem? Just a guess though.

Thanks, yeah its an RXV, and it seems to be tied to the cart having been parked on a hill, and not "Go'ing" when I press the accelerator now.

The Solenoid looks to be the original, so Im leaning towards just replacing it, but I want to find one that can handle an upgraded controller in the future.

Any recommendations?

On my 02 TXT, I had the same problem. It turned out to be the reed switch. Easy to check.....

So, replacing the solenoid didnt fix this problem. Is there some sort or moving sensor on the RXV? I found out that when i put the cart in Forward, and I shake it a little, it activates the intermittent buzzer. It still drives, but buzzes while im driving. (The reed switch seems to be fine).

Is there something else to check or could this be happening because of the controller?

Hi, Rxv tech here...

RXV's and TXT's troubleshooting VERRY different..
Does NOT sound like solenoid issue..
No controller upgrades for RXV's
Speed and accel/brake performance is set with handheld "Code Scanner".. From about 14 mph to about 19 mph

Not a controller issue.. Unless Wire harness is modified or electrical system is
!#$@&* with, Rxv controllers and motors seem to be bullet proof.

Not rolling cart alert... there is NO rolling cart alert for RXV's.
Automatic parking brake prevents "Roll Away cart issues"

What you are hearing is POST fail alert (Power On Self Test).

Using the limited clues in this description, Most likely cause of your problem is "Parking/Emergency" brake failure.

Parking/emergency brake is located on the end of the cart's motor.

This brake is what keeps the cart from rolling away when stopped.
Brake on motor is NOT used in normal driving. ALL normal braking is
done by the motor and controller.
"parking/emergency" brake is only used to hold a STOPPED cart in position or
when brake pedal is pushed very hard/far down. When this happens cart applies the parking brake which will "Lock up" the rear wheels in a "Panic stop".
"Panic stops" that lock the rear wheels seem to be a MAJOR cause of
"parking/emergency" brake failyre.

Brake test is performed at key on. Parking brake is set, then motor is commanded to turn 1/4 turn forward then 1/4 turn reverse.
if motor turns, POST FAILS and buzzer sounds and cart will NOT RUN.

Please give feedback to help "remote diagnosis"

Quick test procedure..

1) does cart move when pushed with key "off" ?
2) does cart lurch slightly when key is turned from "off" to "F" or "R" ?
3) have you had a burning or hot smell from motor area of cart?
4) (use care potential for run away cart here) Park cart facing downhill
switch cart "off" wait a few seconds turn key to "F".
does cart jump or lurch slightly?

Use CAUTION.... I suspect "Parking/Emergency" brake failure.
A Cart which fails POST test WILL HAVE NO BRAKES AT ALL if it starts to roll with a failed "parking/Emergency" brake.

Will try to help!

I agree, sounds like "brake slipping" error. Different versions of the original software handle errors differently, some will refuse to run, while others may operate in "Limited Operation Strategy" (like limp-home mode). Getting rid of the original solenoid was a good idea anyway, the early solenoids (that were directly wired to harness, without plugs) were undersized & failure-prone.
