The resistor gets hotter than a firecracker when the solenoid does not close. The control tries to draw full power through the pre-charge resistor.

Is the solenoid clicking when you try to go? If no, the cart won't have power to go. Simple as that.
Print & Use this diagram to trace the solenoid activation circuit. You must have power (+) at all the red wires AND (-) at the blue wire for the cart to run.

EURICA!!...success at last! one of the little monkeys(students)had installed the resistor backwards on the solenoid-which i found and the new solenoid i got from scotty b-i installed properly...forgot to test the reed switch after the solenoid replacement-my bad....

so i now have a running cart

i want to know if i can bypass the reed switch for now and use the cart? i will order one immediatly to replace the damaged reed switch that is damaged-but i dont want anymore problems for now....

i want to thank scotty b and jonnie b and everyone else for all their help!

EZGO stopped using the reed switch in later model years, so bypassing it is okay.

P.S. it was the diode that was installed wrong - the resistor has no polarity. So glad you found it
