1992 Columbia Par Car Engine Trouble

I bought this cart used, last year and have had no issues until this year.

3 weeks ago my battery died so it has been replaced.

2 weeks ago my cart again stopped and this time the plug wire had come off. so I have replace the spark plug and "crimped the wire end so it is nice and tight.

This cart flies (about 25-27mph). Its about a 1.5 miles to the golf course and there is a straight away of about 1/2 mile that I run wide open.

Now, when the engine heats up it stops. I wait a couple of minutes and it will run again for a couple of blocks and stop again. The longer I wait, the longer it will run. Just before the engine stops it makes "a rattling" sound then cuts out and then there is a high pitch "scream" as the clutch disengages.

Any thoughts?

The auto-oiler may be trying to fail. Put a little oil in the gas. Also If it tends to run lean at high speed and it may get hotter
