Re: Govenor Question
I just realized something... I remembered our first encounter, and posted, but, then removed the manuals for your cart,
and since we're not mad at each other anymore... If you didn't get a chance to store them... here they are again! (yep... they're for a 95/96 DS, but your 96 Carryall 1 will be pretty close!) . |

Re: Govenor Question
So by doing this I am in effect taking the governor out of the picture and it can no longer affect the throttle and I don't have to worry about its position or the fact that I still cant move it. Not so worried about the RPMs as I am an old guy and speed is no longer a priority and I drive by listening, I switch gears by listening but I guess I will have to educate my daughter the only other driver of this cart. What about a tach any idea where to buy and how to hook up

>>> http://www.cartpartsplus.com/perform...golf-cart-tach <<< Most seem to like the Tiny Tach, it's inexpensive, easy to look at, and install! But I'm "old school"... I got the Equus dial tach a few months ago, I haven't even taken it out of the package yet... It's been kinda' cold here in Wisconsin lately! |

Re: Govenor Question
Okay got the accelerator cable from site sponsor, installed it cart fired ran like a scalded dog two problems one its WAY TO FAST to the point where a blown motor is not out of the question and TWO its way to easy to push the gas there is no happy medium (cruising speed and trying to keep it there. Plenty of power and torque just no steady control. Will try to move the governor pin but a little Leary of trying to force it but waiting on some input from you and the other site gurus

Re: Govenor Question
Way to fast:
Yeah... that'll happen when the governor doesn't get to do it's job! Check the cable adjustment at the electrical components box, to slow it down, you need to adjust the 2 nuts on the cable so there is more sheave inside of the box, (you should see more slack from the cable as it rides on the toothed cam) The RPM's still might run kind of high, but it should be better! 084.JPG Pedal to easy: Slightly tighten down the hold down screw on the governor arm so it slightly drags on the pin, (with a dab of grease) that should get you a better throttle response! Note: don't tighten it too much right away... (test, and retest, and retest again!) it may stick, and hold you at full throttle without the cable returning to the idle position! Disclaimer: I've only read where a few people have done this, But... I personally haven't! I only mention it because my common sense tells me too! |

Re: Govenor Question
Has anyone actually rebuilt a governor I know its stupid but between running a clockwise motor with a counterclockwise trans it is really revving way up there with no steady middle ground I don't like it at all even though its running great with original coil(was the aftermarket coil that turned to crap after heating up)

Re: Govenor Question
If you look through the Service manual I posted earlier, it has pretty detailed instructions!
(A LOT better then my 07 manual!) |
