Default 93 club car starting issues

My 93 I really need to “feather” the gas pedal to find the sweet spot to start it. Any idea what could be wrong? Also mechanically challenged, so dumb it down. Thanks all!

Carburetor is dirty. May need a good thorough cleaning.

Other option is the throttle cable is misadjusted and is pulling the throttle plate open too soon. Easy to check. Put the cart in maintenance mode, make sure there is slack in the throttle cable, press the pedal down Slowly and make sure the cable does NOT start to pull the throttle lever until After the motor starts cranking. If the throttle lever moves before it starts cranking the cable needs to be adjusted.

Turn the yellow knob 180 and put in neutral, when you press the gas peddle it will run the motor without moving.

The yellow knob is located on the back of the shifter. It’s spring loaded, so pull it out towards your motor slightly and rotate it 180 degrees. This allows the engine to run in neutral so that you can diagnose engine issues.

I followed advice on adjusting throttle cable and either way I moved it, the plate would move before the click
