What belt for wet terrain
I've got a gas 1999 Turf 2. What belt or other option are you guys running that go iff road alot. Our property has a bunch of standing water. It gets through it good but the belt will start to slip. Is there a particular belt that is better? Wish it was a chain but imagine that would take a ton of creativity to make happen.

Re: What belt for wet terrain
It's a rubber belt on a metal clutch sheave. Theres no belt in the world that wont slip some if it gets wet, though it should dry itself out pretty quickly.
If your constantly running deep water the only thing you could do would be to get creative and fabricate some type of belt box like an ATV or side by side. Or at the least some sort of splash shield to keep some of it off. I've run through plenty of deep mud and water in my carryall and never had an issue though. Sure it slips but never for more than a few seconds or so. The friction from the skipping dries it out quickly I also only run OEM belts. If you're running an aftermarket belt from ebay or amazon you might try an OEM belt and see if that's any better |

I know there is no perfect option. Not running through deep water just muddy fields. It slips but like you said catches. Just wondered if any brand belt was better than another.

I like the idea of a splash guard that might help

A splash guard of some sort to keep the mud and muck from directly hitting the belt and pulleys should help out quite a bit, if not solve your problem. Good luck with it. |

Cart Parts Plus - Severe Duty Drive Belt
Click>>> https://www.cartpartsplus.com/perfor...car-drive-belt Q) Does it still slip when it gets wet? A) Yes, but not nearly as much as OEM, or other aftermarket belts do! I bought my cart new, and of coarse, I payed attention to CC's maintenance schedule, I replaced it 2 years later with an OEM belt whether it needed it or not, (it didn't need it) 2 years later CPP came out with the Severe Duty drive belt, so I got one and found out how much better it was! Better torque, less slippage when wet, and long lasting due to the Kevlar manufacturing. I'm still running the same belt for some 7 years now! (granted, my cart hasn't gotten much use in the last 3 years) But when I need to replace it again? I'll only use the Severe Duty belt. I've only seen one member that made a drive belt splash guard, (not for a CC) But, the tolerances he designed it to were so tight that mud build up, or small stones would trash his belt, and/or clutches, and it was almost impossible to replace both belts without a huge amount of work. With all of that said... Try a Severe Duty belt from CPP, and avoid too much water. .02 |

I'll give it a try. Reviews on it are good.
