Default GEM 12v accesory battery

Hey guys hoping to get some help here. I have a GEM six passenger that is a 2018 and has a 12 volt battery for accessories that is not keeping the charge even after we changed it for a new one. What could be the cause?

Default Re: GEM 12v accesory battery

Just wanted to bring this up again as we had solved the issue. The car has an on board charger with one relay and there is a secondary relay that activates the battery management computer. Both are located in front of the car. These relays must be inspected for proper activation and you can swap them to confirm if they activate either the on board charger or the BMC.

The BMC is what sends the 12v charge to the accessory battery. There is also a votlage reducer that needs to be verified to make sure it is working properly as it also affects the 12 volt charge.

The BMC was the failed part on our car. If it had been operating properly, we would see a spike in voltage on the 12 v battery when charging. We also learned that there is a recall on these BMC for a reflash that needs to be downloaded. Unfortunately this has to be done only by a GEM/Polaris dealer, which there is none in Puerto Rico so we had to send those to a dealer in the US. After the reflash it is now operating fine.

Just wanted to leave this here if anyone else runs into the same problem.

BE SAFE!
