Compression checked both carts
Did a compression check on both carts. Both are all stock, not one mod.
The 99 got 160 psi The 90 got 110 psi Now is the 1990 cart suppposed to be that low? It still has the flathead engine in it. It runs great and actually feels faster than the 99 cart on the top end. Maybe its a little slower taking off but has decent top end and is stock. Might be slower cause my rear driven clutch was stuck open so maybe the stock spring is real weak causing it to open quicker. I dont know how long it has been stuck open as I bought it like this so it may be very weak. It was easy to close the spring when i had it apart. What ill do is get my son to race me side by side and see what happens. Have a stock cart shootout. Also on the 99 it smokes at times or all the time when riding. Ive read post to do a compression check and its at 160psi so what else could it be? The spark plug had carbon buildup around the electrode. I know I should replace it, but cleaned it for now to see what it does. I also checked the oil level and it was close to the top mark. I will change the oil & filter and refill to see what it does. |
