OK here is as close as I can get , is to teach U to fish.

This is the supplement for 97 , which 90% is the same as U have.

Go to section 11 trouble shooting then the part which says tarter fails to operate.
The test procedures are in section 12 which I believe is complete.
Let us know what U find , and if U have problems or additional ?'s

Thanks a ton gleemo for the pdf!

I put a new battery in it, and all seems well. I forgot to bring my tester with me. Next weekend I will test the generator.

We did drive it around for a while after we put the battery in, and it started up every rip.
I'm still going to test things just to make sure.

test the voltage regulator also..........best way is to put it in maintence mode and just put meter probes on battery posts........start up and slowly rev up if its charging up to 15.3 or so volts all is good if not charging than its either voltage regulator or S/G or real small chance starter brushes........i would guess voltage regulater the starters are almost bullet proof almost......................

Thanks. I just found out that it's my solenoid, it had bad contacts on the inside.

i kinda figured it was the regulator.....the starters are almost indestructable........glad you got it figured out..................
