Cylinder & crankcase filling with gas
I have a 1997 gas club car. I have had problems with the engine flooding out. Twice now the Cylinder has filled up with gas while it sits over night. I put a brand new carburator on it and I replaced the fuel lines and both fuel filters. When it is not flooded out the engine runs very well. It fills up with so much gas the engine will not turn over until I drain it out. Is there something else I should be looking for?

Re: Cylinder & crankcase filling with gas
I would pull the pulse line from the crank case
to the fuel pump and check it for fuel, the diaphragm in the pump may be ruptured. Then check the "new' carb for junk in the inlet needle. |

Re: Cylinder & crankcase filling with gas
This weekend the crankcase had no gas in it. It was all in the cylinder. I pulled the spark plug and turned the engine over and gas shot out of it. When I put the plug back in it started and ran fine.

Then its a sticky or dirt in the needle valve.

Re: Cylinder & crankcase filling with gas
The carb is brand new OEM. Do I still need to check the float and for dirt. I put it on just last week. I heard that it could be the intake valve may be out of adjustment and allowing the gas to flow into the cylinder. Is this posiible?

Re: Cylinder & crankcase filling with gas
The carb may have a stuck float new OEM can be 10
years old on the shelf. The intake valve is not the problem, if it was shut and gas flowed it would be a puddle under the cart. |

Re: Cylinder & crankcase filling with gas
Ok Thanks. I'll Check the float on the new carb. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing some other cause.

Re: Cylinder & crankcase filling with gas
Just to make sure. There is no other way gas can flood the cylinder and crankcase. except to go thru the carb when the float is stuck. What if the float works properly and I still have the same problem? I just can't figure it out.
