I checked compression and har l25 psi with dry piston. I also removed the valve cover,set engine at tdc and checked rockers for gap. I could not feel any valve lash at all on the rockers. Does anyone know what the valves should be set at??

.004 is correct for an FE290!

BUT... (being that you didn't specify your engine size Bobby1...)

An FE350 has hydraulic lash adjusters, and should have NO valve lash!
