Nasty little thing unless you drive a Lawn Mower at pedestrian speeds in the shade.

I have been looking at the Glowshift tachs too. FC, can you tell me what you used to interface it to your cart? I am an electronics tech by trade so I should be able to whip up something.

A rare earth magnet attached to the flywheel and a Hall effect trigger operating through 3.5-36 VDC is all I needed. The pulse is that the tach needed to run properly and it will run any cylinder combination etech. I have some powerful magnets that allow me to run up to 15mm of clearance between the trigger and the source and very lightweight so balance is not an issue

Cool! I was thinking along those lines too. I also thought that possibly a rare earth magnet and a magnetic reed switch might work.

Another idea I thought about was feeding the tach from the disconnected ground wire on the rev limiter? Or possibly, just splicing in to the hot wire coming from the magneto to the rev limiter. I wonder if anyone has tried these ideas? I guess I should post a new thread on this.

Hi Etech,

Lets us know how your fix works out. Note: I myself would not use a magnet reed switch because over time you may see the switch exhibit "bounce" and possibly, depending how much current is passed through the switch, "arcing and pitting of the contacts" unlike a hall effect device. Never the less it would be an interesting experiment.

Gook Luck,
