87 EZGO 2 cycle gas engine
I am trying to fix this up for my kids. It currently does not get spark. Turns over, and from what I can tell by some testing the motor has good compression. I need to know how to test some electrical components. I know it has a new ignition coil. My concerns are the ignitor, pulsar, solenoid, and voltage regulator. Without getting spark obviously its not running. If anyone knows how to test these components please help me as I don't want to buy a bunch of new parts if I don't need to. If anyone know anything or any other websites I would appreciate any information.

87 EZGO 2 cycle gas engine
I have a 2 cycle Rollins engine that does not work. I cannot get a spark and I cannot find information on checking the electrical components. Can I convert it over to something that is readily available? I don't want to buy a bunch of parts that may or may not fix the problem because I don't have the correct information. I have test equipment I just need information on what I should be looking for. Thanks in advance

Re: 87 EZGO 2 cycle gas engine
You say it turns over. Have you did a 12 volt check down line from battery to all needed items to make it spark? Check to make sure you are getting power from the top of coil were the plug wire goes into coil. It should be a turn on type wire connection and they can be bad if not new wire. Another thing to check real well is the ground to the engine block. If you do not have a good ground there, you will have spark issues. Of course you may be looking at a pulser problem but track down to the hardest thing to deal with before replacing parts that will just cost money if they are not the problem. Good manual from this forum will help you and they are on here for free on some topics. Keep us informed on what you find.
