Hey, it was a close guess anyway :) it would be a float inside the engine, so yeah not a quick job.

If Subaru would have placed the float in another location it would be a 2 bolt removal. He told me it is below the output shaft so the clutch etc has to be removed to get to it.

He drove it in the shop thinking because the oil light was blinking once in a while he would just change the oil. It has not fired since. I just wish he would have known about the oil light flashing a code and could have counted the flashes. That might have led him in the right area to find what had been causing it to quit on occasion. These carts are like the older 80's cars and trucks with OBD1 from what I learned.

Anyway they pushed it out of the way for now.

I checked on it two weeks ago and discovered that it would fire just as the engine stopped turning, only one time. My only interest other than trying to help them is learning more about these carts. They have great reviews with this fuel injected engine unless the break :(
CC only made these for a few years and Subaru pulled out of the small engine department I am told. Now they have Kohlers in them. These engines are night and day on power as compared to the Kawasaki from what I have found.

I guess I could help them test this oil sensor because the manual shows how. Just not sure that is the problem. Their fuel pump is working because it cycles when you first start the engine like a car with EFI.
I could upload the PDF manual here if I knew how. Maybe it could help someone in the future. Tom

I will follow up after I get it back and let you know what they found. My next project is to figure out if unplugging the oil level wiring will allow the engine to run in the event it goes out again when I have no good way to tow it back.

Did yours quit firing ? the reason it quit on you ?

It did not quit but sputtered each time the light came on. The light did not come on long enough for it to completely die except for 1 time but I was barely moving at the time.

Can I ask where did you get the service manual from, I want to get me one.

Trig thanks for the info! I'd like to get my hands on a service manual for these as well.
I'd actually really like to find what type of scanner they use. The data would probably be very limited, but a scanner should show if the ECU is losing one of the signals that it needs to run the engine.
That diagram shows a K-line data connection, and ISO 9141 protocol is used which is what many many vehicles used for diagnostic connections from the mid 90s up until mid 2010s at least so somewhere there's probably a bluetooth OBD type scanner that could interface with it.

Got a call from he shop today and they finally figured out the problem, a bad spark plug 🤦🏻*♂️ Going get it Wednesday morning and will report back and let y’all know if everything is good to go. They replaced the oil level switch and coil before that but still had the same problem. Finally replaced the spark plug and he said it’s good to go now.

Less than 30 minutes on the cart and it’s doing it again. It’s going back to the shop till it’s fixed.

Any update on this? What did it end up being. Currently fighting with a 2015 EX40 with similar signs and symptoms.

Yes, they actually had the wrong spark plug in the cart. They had a non resistor plug in it where it required a resistor plug. Got that corrected and its been running great ever since.
