89 2 Stroke....Jerky take off
I'm in the process of rebuliding the 89 Marathon I just picked up. Runs okay other than it wont allow me to take off slowly. Seems like the motor has to rev a bit then the clutch will grab and spin the tires! I did some searching here and have come up with 3 ideas.
1. Clutch is bad? Which one? 2. The drive belt is the original! It's VERY loose and cracked. Mabye it has just stretched? Either way it is being replaced 3. Micro switch that is activated by the pedal needs to be adjusted to be "in time" with the carb The entire cart is apart now so if it is the clutch I'll do it now. Just want to be sure first. Thx |

I know the belts will do that, kinda hard to say if the clutch is bad, you could always pull the dust cover and check it out.

Well the pucks are only slightly worn so I'm gonna say it was the belt. Anyone else?
