Default Does JUST a controller add performance?

I am looking to upgrade to a Alltrax SR-48400 and 200 solenoid. However I have read/heard mixed reviews that this will not give me ANY performance gains without pairing with a new motor.

Is this true? Will I see no performance increase?
Would I be better looking at the Alltrax SR-48500 and a 400 solenoid?

I am looking for more torque since I have added a lift, 20" tires and rear seat to my G16 (also added a little more weight with a sound system)
I use my cart heavily around campsites with various terrain.

It will add torque, but no additional top speed. And your setup will be hard on the stock motor, so you may get the "opportunity" to upgrade it soon enough anyway.

I have the Alltrax SR-48500 and a 400 solenoid on my 2015 G29. I get 23 mph according to my phones gps but have a feeling my stock motor won't be lasting too long. I got 14mph with the stock motor. Have 34" tires. Just can't afford a new motor quite yet so have my fingers crossed. :)

Sepex controllers do add torque & speed on Sepex carts. The OP listed Series controller part numbers (where you will only gain torque).

yeah sepex and series work differently. Sepex should definitely add both when adding more power.

really? i thought you could dial up the speed with controller only? this is from plowmans website on the alltrax 300:

"The Alltrax G-29 controller is a true plug and play unit. It gives the G-29 carts a great performance upgrade with the stock motor and a ten minute install. You can expect speeds of 24 to 30 mph, depending on the cart and configuration with a big increase of torque. "

The OP asked about SERIES drive SR controllers and the tech answered correctly.
Additional comments and questions about G29 controllers are not relevant. This is a SEPEX drive which will gain speed with a controller upgrade
