Default j-17 gas engine

the top end of my j-17 is shot and the local dealer says the parts cannot be ordered and they have been discontinued, but they can convert it to a high compression engine. does anyone know how to do this?

well that is good news. my plan is to restore the cart from the ground up just wanted to get the engine issue solved first. it's a 1982 which from my understanding is a low compression engine. any leads to where I can locate the parts? thanks

Can't get the J17 cylinder, best bet would to have your cylinder bored. You can still get oversized piston/ring sets.

ok I have the cylinder at the machine shop now having it bored I know I need the connecting rod bearing for the crank because it has a lot of slack in it. are those still being sold for the j17?
