Default Sevcon PCpaK controller programming interfacing ID

Hello All,

Looking for Sevcon PCpaK, I found with the words
pcpack.rar PCpaK
twoo files using google.

pcpack.rar
PCpaK User Manual.pdf

PC pack seems to be the software for configuring MillipaK PowerpaK and MicropaK controllers.

The software only runs with a configuration ID which is kindly provided on page 48 of the manual

It can be used with a canbus interface and a RS232-TTL interface. Can anyone tell me what interface to make and how to hook it up? I believe it connects to the 6-pin connector.

I'm investigating if i should by a controller like this.

With kind regards,

Edwin

Is this for a golf cart mod?
Do you already have this controller?
Most carts come stock with a 275-300 amp controller.
Why are you considering a 325 amp controller for your application?
IMO, controllers are readily accessible and more universally accepted from Alltrax, Kelly, Curtis, GE etc. than to be messing around with something that maybe $50 less expensive.

Hi Doughmcp.

I was just investigating this brand.
I don't onw a cart. Actually I'm building a boat! I had some curtis answers before, which i hoped I could find the enswers to in this forum. Unfortunately there were no answers to my question, so when i finally found the answer myself I posted it here.

I had been looking at a motor which was offered with a sevcon controller.

I wondered what posabilities were available for setting up this controller. Looking for the configuring software, and interface. Software can be found but I could not find how to interface it to the PC.
I hoped someone here had some info on this.

There seems to be quite a lot of controller related info and questions on the forum.

For a single motor, I do not want to buy a 400 USD or so set-up unit or maybe even more expensive interface with software.
This was my reason for launching the question here.

Regards,

Edwin

Fair enough. IMO I would contact a company like Alltrax who has readily available software for free and their engineering department would be more than helpful with your boat project.
Any DC motors you may be using be it Sepex or series type are controllable with Alltrax units. They also have marine experience.

Hi dougmcp.

I was looking for a brushless motor controller (AC).
It looks like Alltrax only has shunt and series controllers.

They are very smart to selease the configurations software, a lot off people tinkering with golfcarts and stuff will defeitly buy a Alltrax for this reason.

It looks like companies like sevcon and curtis are affraid people will mess up their configuration, and will not even sell their sofware to the public.
So looking for software in the wild can be a solution.

Regards,

Edwin

Just great don't you think!

Best laugh in years when I found a working configuration ID in the manual

Would they have put it here on purpose? I guess not.

Anyway, glad you share my laughs about this.
Many thanks to the writer of the Sevcon manual
