"It's not intended for public consumption"

Does that mean "its a little rough around the edges" & too tricky for average users, or does it mean "i'm building a product i intend to sell & dont want to divulge"? No bad will meant with this question either way, just wondering what you meant.

It's a combination of the first and second. It's still a work in progress. I don't intend to try to market anything - just doing it for fun and I don't want to get into product liability issues. :-( I will be glad to share as long as people realize it's not going to be a Heath Kit. (Yes I am old enough to have built plenty of those!) Since it's a work in progress, I am still trying to figure out what the final display will be. That is the hardest part because it's hard to see most LCD displays in bright sunlight. It's also tricky to monitor all of the individual cells in a 14 cell Lithium pack accurately enough to do good balancing. This is one reason that a good BMS is going to be on the expensive side.

Check out OLED. Pretty high contrast.

Here is a picture of my current display. It is 20 char by 4 lines with a backlight. It's easy to see but the characters are a bit small to read while driving.

Have you thought about using several small displays? Have one for speed, state of charge and one switchable one for with the temperatures and dates.

Nope - don't like that idea. I want one display with several display options. They are out there but I have not found what I want. Graphic displays are the way to go but you need good tools to program them. Then you can have "analog" looking instruments.

I only mentioned it because after using the cycle analyst on my club car for a couple years now, I would appreciate a dedicated speed indicator and state of charge meter and a separate display for the less used stuff.

The cycle analyst is only 16 character by 2 lines, which displays four data points at a time and I have felt it would be better if it had dedicated displays for the common stuff and a display like it has for looking up watt hours per mile, # of charge cycles, max-min-average speed and the other features.
