Digital Voltmeter Draw
There is somewhat conflicting info on this subject.I am contemplating connecting the digital voltmeter directly to the batteries. Is the currant draw such that it will have a significant effect on the batteries when not in use? I am not really interested in splicing into the wiring. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Digital Voltmeter Draw
It has been said that batteries loose about 1% per day just sitting. Now if you add a Voltmeter to that, well its gonna be more. Most people use a separate on/off switch between the meter and the batteries. Some connect it through the key switch, other just use a simple toggle switch. This allows you to turn off the meter when the cart isn't in use.

Re: Digital Voltmeter Draw
No the small digital volt meters as sold by the likes of Scotty and many others shops add NO significant draw to the batteries; your batteries would go dead on their own long before the tiny little meter would have any effect....

Re: Digital Voltmeter Draw
The digital voltmeter will not drain your batteries any faster than they will drain on their own!

Re: Digital Voltmeter Draw
That's affirmative. The draw from the digital LED type meters is virtually insignificant compared to the battery's natural discharge. I have carts that have had the meter on for 6 years. No problems and it makes it easy to find the cart in the dark

Re: Digital Voltmeter Draw
Should a meter wired direct to the battery pack still be fused in case the meter were to develop an internal short?

Re: Digital Voltmeter Draw
Yes. Everything connected to the battery pack or to a voltage reducer should be fused!

Re: Digital Voltmeter Draw
A 1 amp fuse is fine. You are protecting the wires from a short.
