Default 1994 Rebuild Questions

Have A 94 cart with Robin EH29c and low compression. Engine is out of cart.

I also have an 85 2 stroke engine/rear end assembly that I think will bolt right on, but that engine will also need to be rebuilt.

Any suggestions as to whether I should rebuild the original 4 stroke or rebuild the 2 stroke and use it. I know the 2 stroke rebuild is cheaper. I have never had a 4 stroke, do people generally prefer those over the 2 stroke.

If I do the 4 stroke, the guy doing it for me says he only needs rings, gaskets and timing belt tensioner. I not sure if I need to get the complete rebuild kit or just rings and gaskets. Is there any great advantage or need to replace pistons and rods. The engine bore is 64mm.

Also, what is a good low cost source for rebuild parts?

I prefer 4 stroke. how does he know its needs rings? Low compression? I had a 93 that the guy said same thing. i just pulled the head off first and found out the valves were bad. I just re-lapped them and now have 165# in each cylinder.

Low compression. The valves were sunk into head but rings were also worn. Almost finished with rebuild
