Anti-theft device
I've got a 2012 Parcar LE (48volt electric) and looking to secure it from theft. since several golf carts have been stolen in my area. Any suggestions are welcome. I've have thought maybe a replacement key switch, keypad switch or gps tracker might work. If anyone has installed any of these and has a supplier. That would be great. Thanks

Re: Anti-theft device
Lots of options here. A quick site search should net some reading material.
Some people use a cable lock from the steering wheel to the seatback frame, others use a unique ignition key, or a hidden kill switch. |

Re: Anti-theft device
It is so easy to hide a kill switch somewhere. Very cheap and difficult to find if you are a thief in a hurry to steal something. Manufactureres also sell unique key switches that don't have the "every other cart has the same key" key. Problem is that the keyswitch is easy to jump with a simple wire with alligator clips on either end.

Our cart has a unique key, locking lug nuts and one of these wheel locks. Never had an issue.

I leave my cart at the campground attached to the frame of my camper with a high security chain and high security lock.

Re: Anti-theft device
If you have an old cell phone, pay the $10 a month for the data fee, don't have it hooked up as a phone. Plug it in and put it away somewhere. If your cart comes up missing, just track the phone and you can locate it. Cheaper than Low Jack and you can use it on anything that you want to secure.
Last year some kids stole my truck, it had my brief case in it with my iPad. I tracked my iPad as it traveled from Houston to Florida, waiting for them to stop somewhere long enough I could call the local Sherriffs department. Sure enough, when they got to Florida, they stopped for a while. I called the county Sherriff and they went and got my truck back. Funny thing is, I could tell they were playing with the iPad, fully unaware that it was giving away their location. Sad thing is, with my deductible, the missing cash from my brief case, and some missing items such as my GPS and a few other things, I was out about $1,800. One of the thieves was released after a week in jail, the other one got 3 years probation and a $300 fine. But, I did get my truck back. |

Anyway I am glad you got your truck back. I prefer to keep people from taking things in the first place. Once that type of person has your property they tend to do really stupid things with it and to it. |

But, looking back, I could have assumed they would stay on I10 and just call a couple counties ahead. |
