If the governor and or throttle cable are too tight the throttle plate opens before the engine starts and will be open when it shuts off. If that is the case raw fuel can get dumped into the engine with no spark and hit a hot muffler. Backfire. With the key off, push the go pedal and see if the throttle moves before the micro switch clicks. If so, too tight.

Doubtful. after i replaced plugs and carb it ran ok for a little while not long but showed promise, it will go reasonbly well on a flt surface climbing no way If I raise rear end off the ground it will spin up great, just bogs down under a load

When it bogs down does pulling the choke make a difference?

Going to try that, waiting on my Grandsons to be able to come out and help, Hard to drive and watch by myself LOL
Im going to take the seat off and have one of thenm drive from right side and me watch and mess with stuff ,
I was thinking maybe i had the governor too tight but I dont know, I worked on cars and pickups lol
