Default New voltage regulator, no start

Hello, I have been working on a 1988 Marathon for a few weeks. Thanks to this forum I had it in pretty good running order. Last problem to solve was no charging. Would run great on fresh battery. I figured if it would start it would probably charge and that I needed a voltage regulator. I installed new V.R. now it will not do anything period. Will not crank or turn over. I reinstalled the old V.R. and still nothing. I have checked and rechecked all the wiring and cannot find where I may have knocked something loose. Any ideas where I might look for the problem. Thanks

The D- wire of the regulator connects to the small C side of the solenoid, along with two other wires.

I would look real hard around that terminal to see what's up. That's the grounding point for everything.

You should also be checking the fuse.

You could take a set of jumper cables from the positive side of the battery, jump the large lugs on the solenoid to make sure it works.

Then jump to the small C terminal on the solenoid. That bypasses the entire control circuit.
