Conversion to 48 volt
I have a 36 volt cushman titan. I am looking to speed up the unit. I have a idea about changing the controller to a 48 volt and running the 36 volt motor on 48 volts. Any concerns about the motor durability? The unit has belt drive from motor to rear end. Battery trays allow for extra battery on each side. They show some carts with 48 volts in the manual. This seems like the best way to get a little more speed and longer battery run time.
Anyone else have a better idea? |

Re: Conversion to 48 volt
Good idea. Done it many times with great success. Will also need to change the solenoid to a 48v model. And might as well switch all wires to 4g if they aren't already. Check your Controller label, with a little luck, it might already be rated for 48.

Re: Conversion to 48 volt
I'm converting my Cushman to 48v and I'll probably go with the Alltrax since it gets a lot of good reviews for performance and support.

Re: Conversion to 48 volt
Was wondering how it worked out. I have an old pargo and was thinking of doing the same thing. 4 batteries are cheaper than 6. The pargo has 7 seliniods wo have to change them. As far as wiring. You recommend going 4 g all the way

If you are going to upgrade your wiring then all of the high current (thicker) wiring should be replaced. The thin stuff can be left alone. Note that you will need a 48v charger if you don't already have one. You may as well change the charging wires as well. The solenoids will need swapped out like you mentioned. |
