2009 Tomberlin emerge no reverse?

I had a customer that asked me why his cart was stuttering. We discussed everything from brakes to batteries. Long story short they found brushes were worn. The guy had the kid next door remove the motor and someone else put brushes in. When the motor was reinstalled the directions were reversed. He looked at a motor here in my shop and realized the brush end was 180 out. He removed the 4 bolts on the brush holder and spun it 180 and reassembled. Now the cart only has forward. I took the motor out this morning and everything looks correct. I do get the bu alarm and solenoid click in reverse but no motor movement??
