Default 1991 Clubcar Carb installation

I am in process of replacing the carburetor on a 1991 clubcar. Between the engine and the carburetor there is a inch think black spacer/gasket. When I took it off I did not notice that the inside has a slight lip / different configuration on one end. Now I go to install and I am unsure if this lip should be facing up or down or should it be facing carburetor or engine. Could someone tell me how the installation orientation of this piece should be when installed? Thanks Russ

Ok, I probably should not speak on this one because I have not done a carb rebuild on a club car, but since you are still waiting for some reply, look at the gasket you took off, look for some imperfection in the surface that is a result of being crushed against the mating surface, after finding some little line or mark of some sort, go look at the mating surface to see if you can find the matching indent, scratch, etc that made the mark on the gasket. You should be able to figure it out if you can find any marks. Otherwise, wait for someone else to respond, if no one does, I would put the lip or smaller opening toward the engine rather then toward the carb. Make sure you have a good seal, you do not want a vacuum leak at this point, if it runs at all, it will run like crap if you have a vacuum leak between the carb and the intake.

Thanks -- I did call the local Clubcar shop and was told that the smaller opening with lip faces the engine with lip on the bottom. So -- good guess on your part. I did try looking for impressions , etc. but my problem was that I took this part and claned it before realizing the 2 openings were different thus my installation proble. So -- if any member has this same issue here is the fix.
