Re: Project BaggedXelem
Woot.....actually got some work done tonight
Next is to 3 link the back (leaf idea was completely out of wack) Ordering parts now, and once that's done, we can move on to the front! This brings a smile to my face everytime I raise it and lower it.... |

Yeah it's always cool to see your ideas come to life!
I understand about the learning then perfect. I am the same way. I am a self taught welder. My wife did the APEX trade show in vegas a few years back and traded for a welder for me. (God Love Her) she brought it home and I got a book and started learning. I say I am fair. I am still in the Gorilla weld stage, Ugly but strong! You will learn and do well. On the 3 link are you going to do a sliding wishbone for the 3rd link or do a truck arm set up with a drag link? Keep us posted. Arin |

Re: Project BaggedXelem
Golf Cart Party tonight
Here is what we got done. Rear is done...tacs no more...everything is welded in and good to go. My buddy that was welding was absent tonight, so I got to weld.....so DON'T make fun of my welds....only done it a few times. Ok, bring on the flamin', IDK. So happy with the outcome. Rear is completely slammed....can't go much lower ...it basically sits on the tires...but if we notched everything, then we'd only gain a 1/2" before the rear hits the ground.....so might as well fill that gap with steel blocks for some scraper action. Here some pics...and a vid Ok, so here is the video. It's still just using the shitty 1/8" tubing that was provided....they'll go up smoother and identically...as well as lower a lot faster....just in the testing phase! |

Nice progress!
What are you planning doing as far as a drag link? curious to see the front set up as well. Keep up the good work! Arin |

Re: Project BaggedXelem
Drag link? What's the mysterious setup you are speaking about? :)
I might be missing something that is needed. Front will be unique as well...I think I have my head wrapped around it, so we'll see. Should have some progress this week. Put the batteries and motor back in last night and she is MUCH quicker...having power issues tho.....motor cuts in and out...so gotta figure that one out. But rear suspension is stiff and the axel doesn't move...so that's what I was worried about...everything back there is good.......on to the front!!!! |

Re: Project BaggedXelem
cartmann,
The drag link is a side link that mounts on the axle and to the frame rail to eliminate side to side movement. it may feel stiff now but if you drive it and go in to a curve the rear axle will shift and it will stick one wheel out of the wheel well. it's a simple fix just make a mount that attached to one of the frame rails and another mount on the axle. make sure the bar you use is paralell at ride height and all should be good. I will try to find you some pics of a drag link(some call it a track bar). if you have any other questions let me know. I am interested in seeing the front set up. Keep it up! Arin |
