modified solenoid
have gotten a tremendous help over the years reading these posts, but heres one that's got me confused. I got this 98 g19 I bought 6 months ago and ran fine until last week when kids said it slowed down to a dead stop. my first check was the solenoid and found that the guy had jumped the 2 big post with a small battery cable wire. This tells me that something else had gone wrong before and try to hide something. the tow/run switch from what I been reading is to kill the power so you can tow it if you break down. mine runs in run or tow. so im thinking now that I got a bad controller. no power to the small terminals on the solenoid. f/w switch has power as does the pedal stop switch and key switch. any ideas or test would be helpful

Re: modified solenoid
Probably not a bad controller but a few things have been bypassed (hot wired)
The solenoid is bypassed. It may be bad or the activation circuit may be bad. For activation you should read 48v between the 2 small solenoid terminals when you press the gas. |

Re: modified solenoid
You have identified problem #1.
Remove the jumper from the solenoid - and put the cart on jacks for safety. With your meter determine if you are missing the + or the - side of the solenoid activation ( 2 small studs) supply the missing current and observe if the solenoid clicks and passes voltage from one side to the other at big terminals. |

Re: modified solenoid
is the activation circuit the same as the pedal micro switch or stop switch? it ohmed out fine when I pressed the pedal and have 51 volts going to it

Re: modified solenoid
well since it is already jumped, shouldn't the big post going to the controller have 50 or so volts? which it does .

Re: modified solenoid
It is unsafe to operate with a solenoid bypass cable. It sounds like the cart may have another bypass which is keeping the run/tow switch from working. These are problems you are going to have to solve to get the cart running right again & not with bypasses.

Re: modified solenoid
I took off the connector for the leads that go to the small post on the solenoid and don't have power gas pedal in or out. where do these leads go to? I believe hot side goes to the stop switch under the pedal but not not sure either since I have voltage at the stop switch. also noticed each small post has 51 volts to it by meter . one end to small post and other to main negative battery. Both small post on this test had 51 volts. I know I will have to replace solenoid but if he bypassed it and it ran fine and now doesn't work im still gonna have to find why its not running. any thoughts on what else is wrong? thanks
