Default Intermittent spark

Hello...I'm hoping someone can help me with my 1985 ez go golf cart. It has a robin motor in it .... and I can get spark for a while then it disappears with out me doing anything...then in a while it comes back, sometimes lasting for a min or under, I have cleaned all the connections and grounding cables. The pulser is testing about 130 ohms...seems to jump around a little...I'm not sure what the ignitor should be, but I get a real high ohms check on it...and the coil tests 4.1 ohms between orange and red, and 12 ohms between orange and spark plug wire, so think its ok. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Here is an 85 manual to start with.

Have you changed the plug?

Thanks for the manual...I see my values for the pulser and coil look ok...but they don't mention anything about igniter...and yes I have tried another plug...I do see the change over to the hei system....but just don't want to go and buy if it might be something else....any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanks

You said that the resistance between the orange wire, and the spark plug wire is 12 ohms.

Was that a typo? It should be 12k ohms.

I'm trying to post a picture, but it's not working. Page R-5 item I-3

There is no test for the ignitor, except swapping it out.

Besides a resistance check on the pulsar, you should also check the red wire to ground, and the blue wire to ground to make sure they are not chafing against the engine case. Intermittent electrical issues are a major pain.

I decided to switch to the HEI, got it all installed like the diagram and I got spark and it fires, but has a miss...runs rough and back fires through the carb...I didn't touch or change the pulsar coil or any of the timing around flywheel....I'm getting about 75 ohms on pulsar coil...any ideas?

Reverse the red and blue wires from the pulser
