Default Club Car Lithium ION design

Hello All,

The Lithium ION packs that come on a Onward is it possible to by pass the VCM to use battery pack with any Golf cart that's 48 volts? I do know the pack shows no voltage with out the VCM hooked to it. Is there a way to bypass all of it?

I don't know the specific battery but if you can access the internal wiring, you could always remove whatever electronics it has and add your own BMS to it, utilising only the original cells.

However, unless you get the battery pack for free I don’t know why you would want to. You’d have to put some $ and time into making it work, and not really sure it would be cost effective vs just buying a lithium pack that you don’t have to modify.

If its a standard 16s (16cell) battery you can pick up a 200a-300a continuous bluetooth enabled bms for about $120 and wire it up in about 30 minutes.. the batteries inside are still simple 3.2v cells with only a + and - and wiring up the bms is really not that bad. but thats your decision to make with your comfort level. Financially Id say it can be very worth it unless you can find another lithium pack for under $300..

This is where Id buy a bms with good online diagrams or support. a lot of people repurpose other cells such as automotive or scooter cells the same way.
