Street Legal in O-H-I-O?!?
Looking to get our 2007 EZGO TXT 36 volt cart street legal in Ohio. Looking for the best turn signal/horn kits available as of this date. Already have a standard run of the mill light kit. Will we need a different light kit for turn signals to work with? Do we need seat belts? If so, do they make a 6 passenger setup? We ride 3 in the front seat and 3 on the rear facing back seat. What is a good easy set to install? Do I need side mirrors? We have a rear view mirror already, one of the full width multi mirrors.. Thanks.

Re: Street Legal in O-H-I-O?!?
You might want to check the Ohio BMV / DMV for the specs on making a golf cart street legal. They will list what is required. From what I understand you need headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, windshield, seat belts, mirrors, and a legal serial number, possibly a certificate of origin/bill of sale, might be more. It will be listed in a spec sheet, probably available online as well. Once the vehicle is outfitted, it will need to be inspected by an officer, usually a State Highway Patrol officer at the DMV, same place they issue drivers licenses. At that point you can get a vehicle title. Then you can get plates. It will only be legal on 25mph roads, as it will be registered as a LSV (Low Speed Vehicle). You will then need to get insurance. I'm not sure if the rear facing seats are street legal, or 3 passengers. I think they go off of the GVWR of the vehicle. Also I believe only certain communities allow them, so check your local law enforcement office.
I looked into doing this but it isn't allowed in my area, only certain communities. Basically I can't drive a golf cart on my road. This is why I didn't follow through. It was going to cost me around $1500 or so. |

Re: Street Legal in O-H-I-O?!?
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I believe in Ohio it is any road in Ohio that is 35mph or less. And as you stated that can be over ridden by a community. My town loves golf carts and they are everywhere. I did read some on it but I was hoping to get a few Ohio members to chime in for pointers that maybe they experienced or found out the hard way. Also was looking for parts suggestions, like quality brands and things.
