My secondary spring is Yellow and has been there for a very long time. Think I got it from Plowmans ? Whatever it is, you'd think it would be worn out by now, but it's still a strong cart.
All you guys talking about the springs and I couldnt remember what I had in mine, So I had to look

Troub used his to do it all year on his farm!

And I have the yellow Plowman spring in Spot!! Wire size is pretty close to the same as a umax, don't remember difference in length.

I think the best thing with the Plownans set up, is the shorter belt. Thats what impressed me!!

And, I went and looked at my old clutch sheave and helix. The numbers are next to the holes, albet hard to really identify on used parts!!

And last, Spot was faster with the umax, but I don't care, I like the prowness of it now, and you can only use top speed for a few seconds anyway!!

well here in Louisiana there are very few monster hills I need to climb lol. Actually for the most part we are dead flat so speed over torque is better. Its fun to play in ditches and things but I have this feeling that when Im finally done with Calico she will be a street queen lol

OK so if I am understanding this right the UMAX spring isnt as stiff as the white power spring?? Which means I will lose some torque but gain some top end? I wonder why the white spring did not have tangs on the ends but the UMAX has them and has to be preloaded?
Also when preloading if I do it on the cart like Mike did how many times do I spin the helix to preload the spring?
**** I feel like such a newb again ughhhhhhhh

Preload is only going to be like 1/3 of a turn. I don't think you can get it past 2 ramps...

You don't even want to try to get past 2 ramps!!

Thats why there is B3 and B4!!

What I can make since of, the Plowman spring is .200, and the umax is .180. That is on top of powder coat. so don't know what that has to do with anything. Just an exercise in spending 20 min. learning to read a dial caliper again!!

I probably better stick to inches!! And sawdust!!
