Default rear end original gears

My 2007 Columbia with high speed gears recently burnt out the electric motor. They tell me that the motor was not designed for the gears. If i put the rebuilt motor back in i assume it will happen again. Which gear in the rear end did they change?? Can i purchase the factory gear and make it origianal equipment?? Motors are expensive. 55gary

You can get a gear set to switch back, it's a set though, of three gears to get back to the original 10.35 ratio.

on the outer case of differential it says the ratio is 12:44:1 sn: 1579478,1-24-2008-01 012AJ317-1... I would think this would be the gear ratio from factory.

It is then. Some of the earlier ones had the 10.35's. Part number for a Columbia 12.44 gear set is 82774-08. List price though is $1,155.86.

Correct me if i am wrong but can the controller be set with what i have, new or rebuilt motor and existing differential, to run at a slower speed and not damage anything?

You're not wrong, the controller could be reset with what's in there to limit your top speed. You're giving up a lot of torque though.
