Re: got sound but no go
could this be another fouled-up-muffler case? seems quite a few of these lately (probably people starting to use them again after sitting all winter)

Re: got sound but no go
Check your cooling fins for trash, might be getting hot and shutting down.
Did you make sure you have good new gas and the oiler is working? When it shuts down, pull the plug wire and test spark with a new plug. |

Re: got sound but no go
Adjust the carb mixture screws in all the way and then out 1 1/4 turns, see what happens.

Sac, If it runs good on the stands (no load) but then dies on the ground (under load) it sounds as if carb is adjusted lean. Lets say at 2000 RPMs, the motor requires more fuel under load than same RPMs on stands. You have two adjustment screws on the carb, one low speed and one high speed. They should have a "H" and a "L" stamped beside them. You need to make adjustments on the ground like it would normally be used. The only way to do that is by starting and stopping, making adjustments Start by setting them both at 1 1/4 turns out. Start with the low speed screw because your motor uses that one first. Push the pedal and feel/listen how it starts and takes off. If it stumbles or starts hard open it another 1/4 turn, get it starting properly and then move to the high speed adjustment. When you get it starting properly and speed up it will either stay running or die out once it passes from the low to the high circuit. If it dies out it will be because of two things, it either runs out of fuel (high speed screw in to far) or the motor loads up with fuel and floods itself out (high speed screw out to far) You just need to adjust in increments until you find the sweet spot. when people say "screw your mixture screws out 1 1/4 turns" that is just an average starting point for motors to get them running so you can make your fine, final adjustments. Keep us posted. I must rest now............... |
