Just deep enough to get the belt wet then you have a pond ornament.

and theres my point,.........as long as im head mechanic, sponsor, gasman,.....and the adult he will not be going throw anything that requires a respirator on his atv

to answer your question i don't think a golf cart is designed to go in really deep water. I've had mine up to the floor boards (18 inches) and the belts where slipping some kind bad. Maybe an electric cart?

On an ATV there are 3 things to add a snorkel to..... the intake, the belt housing breather & the exhaust. If water backs up into any of those areas, the ATV stops.... usually about hip deep.

So on a cart, yes, you could add a snorkel to the intake & the exhaust. But if the belt gets wet, the cart is not going to make it thru the puddle your in the middle of at the moment. So you better start working on a way to enclose the belt & clutches too.
