2006 MPT1200 Help with engine
Good Afternoon, This is my first post; however I receive countless information from the site.
My issue is I have a 350mci motor that has a broke rod. I purchased a pre-MCI 350 with 295 head and aftermarket cam before truly understanding the difference. I see conversions that go from Pre-MCI carts to MCI cart, but I need to go the other direction. Can anyone tell me what it would parts I need to install this Pre-MCI 350 in my cart? |

Re: 2006 MPT1200 Help with engine
Ignition (igniter) Module, Exhaust System, Coil, Coil Bracket (at the minimum) - I don't remember offhand if there is anything else You'll have to replace, I'll take a look tonight and check for You.
Also - You're going to want to make sure whomever built that engine (I have the same setup, Pre-MCI 350/295 Head, Cam, etc) beefed up the valve springs, if they didn't You're not going to be able to use the engine to its' full potential as the valves will float at around 4200-4300 RPM, also the stock carb jet needs to be replaced (at a minimum), the exhaust should be opened up, and above all, You'll have to convert to an ignition without a rev limiter (such as a CDI) or that engine isn't really going to do a thing that a stock one won't, other than a little extra torque because the stock ignitions (pre or post MCI) have rev limiters built in. My setup has heavy springs, the carb was bored and polished as well as jetted, and I'm running a Zemco Header and CDI Ignition - I keep mine (on the tach) at 5K or under, and it's an absolute screamer for a modified stock motor - but I've seen a lot of people who think bolting a 295 head on a 350 and a cam is all they need and it can be rather disappointing when they realize that's just a base starting point to be able to utilize the mods. The good news is You already need to replace most of the stuff that should be upgraded, so You're going to avoid "double-buying". |
