Default IQ vs. Excel

Newbie here. I know this has been discussed at length, but I'm still having a little trouble really determining the advantages of one drive system vs. the other, and if it should really even be a concern for me. I'm guessing how you plan to use or modify a cart might be the deciding factor. I'm looking to buy a 3-4 year old Precedent. Won't be doing any major modifications other than the usual accessories to transport the family around the neighborhood - no lift or big tires. Just a back seat. We will be covering quite a bit of distance though at times on a charge. Is there one system vs. the other that might be better to pursue? By the way, we live in a very flat area, no hills. Not sure if that matters. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer.

The Excel drive system is the latest technology from club car, by the time you decide to do any upgrades, I am sure the slow moving aftermarket manufactures will have fully caught up.

There are a few controllers and plenty motors for the Excel system already on the market anyway.

Get the one with the best value as the differences in electronics will not be that significant for you.

The most important thing are the batteries, try to negotiate for new ones from the beginning.

I'd be happy with the excel if that is what I had, I'd surely not change just to have a few extra IQ aftermarket options. I know Curtis makes upgraded controllers for them pretty much plug and play from what I've read.
