I am having problems with this car taking off fast but slowing within a few seconds. Tried the "roll away test" for the speed sensor and got no beeps or slowing effect. I changed the speed sensor but still having the same issue. MCOR was changed about 8 months ago. Any ideas what I can do next?

It's still the speed sensor, but it may be in the wiring or the magnet. Pull the sensor to make sure that the magnet hasn't come loose or hasn't broken. It's also possible that you have another bad sensor.

Test procedures for speed sensor:

• Place tow/run switch on RUN
• Key OFF.
• FNR on Neutral
• set you meter to 20vDC

Disconnect the 3 pin connector from the speed sensor.

Measure between Black and Red wires on the harness side of the connection.

You should get approximately +15v

if You don't get 15v:

Measure voltage on controller connector (using back probe) pins #13 and #15

If You get +15v, there is an issue with the harness between controller and sensor connector.
If You don't get +15v, the controller is Bad.

If You get +15v on the speed sensor connector:

Plug the speed sensor connector back.

Use a wire piercing probe on the green wire at the speed sensor, place positive meter probe there.

Place negative meter probe on pack negative or controller B-.

As you slowly turn the wheel, the voltage reading should change from 0v to 5v every time a different magnet pole goes by the speed sensor.

If the voltage does not change and You actually have a magnet at the end of the motor, the speed sensor is bad.

Aftermarket speed sensor? Could be bad out of the bag. I'm not a fan of the aftermarket sensors. What color are the three wires on the sensor?

Purchased from club car dealer. red, green, black

If you get the Red Black and Blue the B in blue could mean Bad had a couple of them

+13v on red and black wires on harness side
positive meter on green wire
neg on -b controller
get 11.4v before I turn tire
goes to 12.9 when I turn the tire

The hall effect sensor should be bringing the Green output signal to 0v, so it is likely bad.

You can actually simulate the speed sensor to make sure the cart would respond correctly.

Disconnect the 3 pin plug from the speed sensor.

Get a paper clip and repeateadly short the Black and Green pins (not the RED)

After a few pulses, the reverse buzzer should sound and the roll-away brake engage (The motor field coils will be energized).

Check the magnet. If the magnet is broken it will act as if the sensor is bad. Now may be a good time to replace it with a high speed magnet.
